If you enroll with a third-party provider, fees are typically based on a percentage of your enrolled debt and commonly range from 14% to 27%, though fees may vary by provider and by state. Programs are not available in all states. Program length commonly ranges from 24 to 48 months, depending on your debt amount and other factors.

Under applicable rules, a debt relief provider generally may not charge certain fees until at least one debt has been successfully resolved and you have made at least one payment toward that settlement through the program. In many programs, consumers may need to accumulate funds (often approximately 25% of an enrolled debt) before a provider can attempt a settlement offer with that creditor.
